Social media has been put to good use quite often in recent years. Since it is one way of getting people together, people in many different areas have been finding ways of tapping into it.

I recall a recent move among members of the New Town community who wanted to start a prayer chain after the shooting in Connecticut.

What you have mentioned here in the article is another example. The formation of cancer support groups online will help people in new ways.
