Here's one of my favorite quotes:
"People write about me and the cancer experience, saying, 'She's so brave and so courageous' and I think, 'You get up every day and you put one foot in front of the other, and it looks brave.' But then I stop every once in a while, and I think, 'Maybe that's what bravery is: Simply putting one foot in front of the other.'"
I read this quote while in the waiting room of my oncologist's office in 1993. I ripped the page out of the magazine and have carried it with me since that day. This was the best advice I'd ever read about cancer survivorship - you have to put one foot in front of the other. That's the only way to make it through any experience, good or bad.... Just get up and go. Start walking.
